Camp Details:

Who: Ages 7+

What: Kids will learn the basics of sewing and embroidery through hands-on projects that spark creativity and build confidence. Campers will master three foundational stitches—straight, cross, and whip stitch—while creating unique items like embroidery hoop wall hangings, felt stuffies, and personalized canvas pieces.

No need to make design decisions at registration—campers will select their designs during camp, making the process easier for parents and more fun for kids.

Campers are encouraged to bring a snack and drink to enjoy during breaks.

When: Monday-Friday from 10am - 12:30pm

In Mindfully Bright, artists Cyrus Carlson, Dede Decker, Paul Fosaaen, and Brian Nagel show what it means to trust the process in a distracted world. Each artist relies on intuition for their mark making, reflecting their unique creative practices.

Wouldn’t it be great to be able to chat with your favorite mystery authors? This event for local mystery writers and their fans always includes lively discussion and a great time!  A cash bar is also available so come early to mingle.

Tickets are $10 and include a $5 shopping coupon for the night of the event.

This show is open to all active CAB members and will be a visible feast of eclectic art of all media types from painting and pottery to glass, photography, and art to wear. If you are an existing CAB Member and are interested in showing your art, sign up here. The sign-up deadline is Saturday, May  10 at 11:45 pm.

CAB’s mission to foster the arts in and around our beautiful River Falls community - from Art on the Kinni to Music in the Park - relies on the varied financial and volunteer support of our members (you can become a member here).  CAB members not only support local arts, many of them are artists themselves.  The CAB Annual Member Show is a great opportunity to showcase a variety of artistic styles and media at all levels of artistic expression.  Come show your support for our CAB artists!

Art’s House Gallery & Gift Boutique offers unique local art and gifts year round, and the CAB Annual Member Show will be open through the Kinnistock Music Festival and River Falls Days.

The Meet the Artists reception for this show will be held on Saturday, May 31 from 5:00-7:00 PM. We’ll have live music by Jim Ehlers along with light refreshments by Lily Thai Restaurant, good company, and great art.  See you then!

This presentation will explore the highly distinctive work of Stanley Kubrick, who directed only 13 films but is remembered as one of the great American directors. We will take a look at such classics as 2001: A Space Odyssey and A Clockwork Orange, asking not only how they were made but also what they mean.

Presented by Steve Schroer, a former professor who has taught a variety of courses in the arts and humanities.

He has racked up a secret debt – and with the King nowhere to be found, the only way to pay it off is to find an Elvis impersonator within 24 hours. Hijinks ensue as the Colonel takes desperate measures to replace a man who is irreplaceable, while keeping a nosy reporter at bay and figuring out what happened to the real Elvis!

Jesters Comedy Improv is ready to bring their comedy outside and for the laughs to fill the summer air in Scandia! Friday night, June 6th, at 7 p.m. at Rustic Roots Winery: an evening of family-friendly improv comedy (all made-up, and all based on audience suggestions and participation!) Bring your kids, your grandparents, your neighbors, your drinking buddies… anyone who needs a laugh!

Huge Pie Stand, Craft Fair, rhubarb store stroll with every kind of rhubarb yum, sidewalk sales, pancake breakfast with rhubarb sauce, ending with the rubber duck race over the waterfall. Come for the quirkiest, small town adventure of them all!

Discover what thousands of schoolchildren already know! Belwin’s Education Site welcomes thousands of students from Saint Paul and Stillwater every year. This June, you’re invited to explore this special site during two days of open community hiking. Kick off your visit at our new Peter J. King Family Foundation Wetlands Center, then head out on the trail. Naturalist-guided hikes will be available throughout the day, starting at 10:00 am, or choose your own adventure as you explore miles of trail through woodlands, wetlands, and prairie.

Trails at the Education Site are accessible to hikers of all ages and include a mix of paved, mowed grass, and gravel. This event is free, but we ask that you RSVP to help us plan for parking and staffing.

Head out to an innovative new space in New Richmond, Wisconsin—Potter’s Without Kilns—for a two-day, hands-on Raku firing with Mark Lusardi. Bring decorative pieces to life with flashy colors and lively crackles when you move them from the red-hot kiln to the combustion chamber where the Raku magic begins. Students should bring six to eight pieces—made of Raku clay, bisque fired, and no larger than a cantaloupe—to glaze before heading to the kiln. Pieces made with even thickness and strong attachments will handle the shocking transformation best.

Note: Students will not have access to NCC’s open studio time unless they are already enrolled in a ten-week spring class at NCC.

Soma yoga is a very gentle and slow-paced practice to decrease tension in chronically tight areas, focusing on alignment and stability when finding our classic asanas (yoga poses). This is a great practice to “reset” our bodies for improved mobility, stability and function.

Learn a series of gentle somatic movements to relieve tension in chronically tight areas and find your best classic asana variation for a practice that is generous and kind to your body.

Drop ins welcome.  Cost will be $12 per session payable before class.

NOTE: Be aware we may cancel class if a minimum number of registrations is not reached. We work to balance a teacher’s need to plan for a class with students’ busy schedules — not an easy task. Please register as early as possible!

Learn the basics of tapestry weaving to create a small wall hanging from Sandra Brick. Use a variety of colorful, textured materials like bulky yarn and wool roving. Get fancy with fringe, loops, and color blocking to create a weaving that is as unique as you are!

Sandra Brick is a trainer, coach, and educator with over 21 years of experience with the Textile Center, both as an instructor and former Board member. She has designed and developed over 35 workshops and courses in a diverse range of topics, including fabric dyeing, design theory, beading, creative problem-solving, and technology workshops for artists. Brick’s explorations in new materials and techniques have inspired her innovative body of work in surface design, stitching, and mixed media, which has been widely exhibited.

Isaac Walters and Gene Tesdahl will share fur trade history from their wigwaas jimaan (Ojibwe language for birchbark canoe) to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Interstate Park, WI.

They will sing French paddling songs and display artifacts in their hands-on 1790s canoe camp. Walters and Tesdahl met as National Park Service rangers on the Grand Portage Ojibwe Reservation in Northern Minnesota. They have been providing historical re-enactments across the country for 30 years. When not interpreting the fur trade, Isaac Walters serves as a middle school instructional coach in Holmen, Wisconsin, and Dr. Tesdahl teaches early American history at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Come be part of history!

Get inspired by the fiber arts trend that’s always in style: Crocheted Granny Squares! These simple-to-make crocheted squares can be used alone or multiplied to make everything from small purses to sweaters to large shawls!

Cara Corey will teach you basic crocheting skills needed to create a Granny Square. Once you learn the pattern, see where your creativity takes you. All are welcome – no crocheting experience is necessary.

Live music returns for the summer season! Music is from 3-6 PM in our covered pergola (outdoor seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis). Feel free to bring lawn chairs/picnic blankets to spread out on. As a reminder, please no outside food or drink — our bar and kitchen are open for business! Free to attend, no tickets required.
