Block Printing Workshop

Instructor : Amanda Anez Dates: Saturday, October 10 Time: 1:00 - 3:30pm Location: WHAT Art School, Downtown Saint Croix Falls Class Duration: 2.5 hours, one session Class Size: 10 students maximum Ages: 14+ Price: $73 ($35 tuition + $8 admin + $30 materials) Description: Express your personal style with functional, wearable art! This playful introductory workshop will explore creating one-of-a-kind textiles with relief printmaking. You’ll be guided through the process of creating custom linocut blocks, from drawing, transferring your image, carving, and printing by hand. The printing process will be collaborative with the opportunity to borrow each other’s stamps. At the end of class, you’ll bring home your printed textiles plus your carved stamp(s) which can be used again for future printing at home! What’s Included: All materials and access to tools One blank fabric item to print on (your choice, day-of) Bandana Tote bag Instructor demos and guided work time What to Bring: Wear clothes you’re comfortable with getting inky, or bring an apron Optional: If you’d like to print on something other than a bandana or tote bag, feel free to bring your own fabric! It could be a clothing item you love, bag, fabric scraps, or a small section of yardage. The provided block will be 4x6in. RECOMMEND: light fabric colors (ink will be black), smooth natural fibers/blends like cotton, linen, or even silk AVOID: chunky/textured fabrics (knits/thick canvas), fuzzy, or stretchy

Land conversion, development, large scale agri-business are all encroaching on our precious wild spaces that support a myriad of life that, at the end of the day, support our lives. Join us to learn some simple things you can do in your own backyard to change the paradigm of mowed lawns, one small corner at a time. Part 1: Making a plan – October 10, 2026 Part 2: Getting ready for spring - April 10, 2027 This course is led by Lynette Anderson. Lynette is involved with both programming and land management at Belwin Conservancy. She enjoys creating walks and talks that showcase the great work being done to restore native habitat for all the critters and plants. She also gets to be involved with the work that creates the habitat, which she loves. Each day holds something different for her. Some days she is working with her body on the land, some days she does reconnaissance for a program, some days she works with volunteers, and some days, nights or evenings she gets to lead a group to some amazing phenological event happening on Belwin property.
