Embroider a Wrist Cuff Workshop
Presented by Gammelgården Museum of Scandia at Gammelgården Museum Scandia, MN
This three-hour class with Natalie Norman is focused on making an embroidered wrist cuff. (A wrist cuff is used to warm your hands or as an accent piece worn as a bracelet.) Come with an idea of design choice or begin with one of the patterns that Natalie will have available. We will offer 5-6 basic embroidery stitches enhanced with ideas of combining varied stitches. Suggested Age: 15 years old to adult. The class fee includes a $15 materials fee. The materials fee includes:– Fabric and lining– 2 closure buttons– Embroidery floss– Pattern– 1 needle– Beads, if desired Register on EventBrite to guarantee your spot. Natalie Norman has been part of the cultural needlework community for over 20 years, participating as a vendor, demonstrator, and teacher at venues such as Gammelgården Museum, American Swedish Institute, and Marine Mills Folk School. Sponsored by the Swedish Embassy in Washington, DC, her embroidered work was featured in a traveling exhibition that visited five major American cities and concluded with a 15-month tour in Stockholm, Sweden. In 2019, Natalie received a fellowship from the American Scandinavian Foundation to study a traditional form of folk art. Courses in fritt broderi at Sätergläntan in Dalarna and påsöm at the Mora Folk School have since deepened her embroidery practice and strengthened her desire to share this passion with others. Fly Fishing 101

Have you ever wanted to learn how to fly fish but don’t have gear? Are you beginning your fly fishing journey but can’t quite nail a perfect cast? Let Wild Rivers Conservancy and the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway reveal the mysteries of fly fishing to you! By the end of this dry land course, you’ll have all the knowledge you’ll need to catch your first fish on the fly! Thanks to a grant from the National Park Foundation, we will provide all the necessary equipment and teach you the basics such as knot tying, fly casting, wading safety, fish species identification, regulations & ethics. All you need to bring is a positive attitude, weather-appropriate clothing and water bottle! This course is recommended for 13 years old and older. Meet your instructor: October Yates is an avid outdoorsman throughout the midwest. He has been kayaking and fishing since his youth, and adventured up and down the coast from Washington to Alaska. He now resides in the St. Croix valley and has years of experience guiding people throughout his favorite places along the Riverway.

All you need to bring is a positive attitude, weather-appropriate clothing and a water bottle! This event is open to all families and first-time anglers. Spelmansstämman Music and Culture Festival: 2026 Japan

MUSIC PERFORMANCES Spelmansstämman is a long-standing Swedish folk music tradition based on outdoor gatherings (stämma) of Swedish musicians (spelman) to share music, friendship, and playing. At a traditional stämma, a small group of musicians share tunes they love and have in common. Gammelgården’s 36th annual Spelmansstämman will feature multiple musicians performing throughout the day. Botanical Cyanotype Art Class
Presented by The Outing Lodge at Pine Point at The Outing Lodge at Pine Point Stillwater, MN
Students will begin by gathering leaves, grasses, and botanical treasures from the surrounding landscape to use in their sun prints. Guided through the cyanotype process step by step, participants will learn how to arrange natural elements and expose them to light to create beautiful blue-and-white prints rich with detail and texture. This three hour workshop encourages creativity, observation, and a deeper connection to the natural world while creating a one-of-a-kind artwork suitable for framing and display. (If cloudy, sun prints will not develop, so we will create nature prints as a backup project.) Please note, class price is $90 after August 10th.
