Winterfest: Best Bartender in the Valley Competition + Industry Night at JX Venue

Monday Feb. 23rd is our annual Winterfest Service Industry Night! This year it is open to the public and features the Best Bartender in the Valley competition. Not to be missed, this is a three-round, Iron Bartender-style cocktail battle featuring some of the most experienced and innovative bartenders in the area. Full bar available, with drink specials for the night and free food (while it lasts). This year we thank Acapulco Restaurante Mexicano for a taco bar, and Bella Vida Catering for pulled-pork sliders and mac & cheese buffet. Doors open at 5:00pm for social hour and the immediate start of the first round. Round 1 is the Punch Bowl round, with attendees encouraged to sample and cast their votes for Crowd Favorite (There will be a finite amount of samples in subsequent rounds on a first-come-first-served basis). This Fundraiser holds special significance as it embodies the spirit and passion that Karla Sweeney poured into St. Croix Ballet, celebrating the exquisite art of ballet for individuals and the broader community. In her honor, the foundation continues to uphold her legacy by supporting the St. Croix Ballet scholarship assistance program, teacher training, and the upkeep of our cherished studio. This year, our event will again take place at The Grand Banquet Hall in downtown Stillwater for an in-person event which will include a program featuring performances from our beloved dancers, light hors d'oeuvres, one free beverage and a cash bar. February Featured Artist & Open Mic: Scott Vetsch + Theme: Ritual

Join us on Thursday, February 26, 2026 for poetry and community! Arrow Broken Poetry Collectives is honored to welcome Scott Vetsch as our featured artist. Scott Vetsch is a poet who lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was raised on the Great Anoka Sandplain, and became a carpenter when his high school plans of rock-stardom fell through. He is a long-time member of the spoken word community and a founding member of the Bosso Poetry Company. Scott still lives on the same river he grew up on, fishes it when he can, and crosses it daily. He has two books currently in print; Tilt-A-Whirl, a memoir, and a volume of poetry entitled, Greetings From Bullhead Country, both published by Calumet Editions. The free event will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be held at the Brookside Bar & Grill. Open Mic will begin at 8:10 p.m. Everyone is invited to share their work and will be allotted three minutes to perform. February's theme is "Ritual. This event is sponsored by the St. Croix Valley Foundation and Marine Library Association, with support from the Brookside Bar & Grill, Christ Lutheran Church, and Marine Mills Folk School.
