Join Sustainable Stillwater MN and Green Guardian Wealth Management for a relaxed evening of food, drinks, and nature-inspired tabletop games during Valley Climate Action Week. Whether you're an experienced gamer or completely new to modern board games, this welcoming event is designed to bring people together while exploring the incredible connections found in nature. The evening will be hosted by Jeff Reigle of Green Guardian Wealth Management, who will introduce participants to a collection of award-winning nature-themed strategy games and help players learn the rules, get started, and enjoy the experience. No prior gaming experience is necessary—Jeff will guide the evening, making it easy for everyone to jump in and have fun. Participants will have the opportunity to play games including Ecosystem, Forest Shuffle, and Wingspan. Along the way, you'll discover fascinating concepts like biodiversity, wildlife habitats, food webs, and the delicate balance that keeps ecosystems healthy—all through friendly competition and hands-on play. Log Run Half Marathon

The Log Run Half Marathon, 10 Mile, 10K and 5K race originated back in 1997. A superb, mostly downhill race gently descending into historic Stillwater, Minnesota, it's been known as one of the fastest courses around. Runners have set personal records on this course since the very beginning. The scenic route brings runners into historic downtown Stillwater from the north passing parksand farms on rural roads with bluff views along the way showcasing the Federally protected St. Croix River and surrounding valley.

Artist Reception: Suyao Tian

Art Gallery Exhibition This fall, Belwin is hosting a gallery exhibition, Worlds Within Worlds, featuring the work of painter Suyao Tian. In this exhibition, Suyao Tian will presents a series of abstract, water-based paintings that respond to the natural rhythms and quiet presence of Belwin. Worlds Within Worlds is ultimately about connection — between visible and invisible realities, between humans and nonhuman life, between imagination and memory, and between the intimate and the infinite. Every system, being, memory, landscape, or form contains another hidden world inside it — layered, interconnected, and continuously unfolding. Suyao Tian’s artistic language is deeply shaped by her childhood experiences growing up as a single child during China’s one-child policy in the 1980s. “Cultural expectations and a highly competitive, exam-oriented education system emphasized memorization over critical thinking and imagination, affecting both school and family life for an entire generation. For me, the absence of siblings, the inability to have pets, and limited social interaction led to isolation and a lack of confidence. Nature became my primary source of communication and emotional expression. As a child, I spent time collecting small insects, placing them in jars, talking to them, and playing with them—they became my earliest listeners.” This exhibition will be on view at Belwin's Savanna Center at 795 Indian Trail S. Lester Batiste: Featured Author and Open Mic (Theme: Wóokiya—Being Helpful)

Join us on September 24, 2026 for poetry and community! Arrow Broken Poetry Collective is honored to welcome Lester Batiste as our featured artist. Lester Batiste is a savage writer in living color who writes for political, social, economic change and Black futures. Born in Chicago, IL, he holds an MFA from the University of Southern Maine's Stonecoast writing program, and an M.S.Ed. from the University of Pennsylvania. Influenced by Gwendolyn Brooks, Carl Sandburg, and Toni Morrison, Lester strives to weave traditional forms and techniques with the vibrancy of African American experience and speech. Rich details are enhanced by the musical tones from Lester’s childhood on the Southside of Chicago to his present on the Northside of Minneapolis. Lester's work has appeared in print in The Stone House Anthology (2014), the Southern Griot Journal (2012), Tulane Review (2017), A Garden of Black Joy (2020), and digitally in the Brushfire Literary and Arts Journal (2020), Hidden Peak Press (2022), The Indianapolis Review (2023), and The Bitchin’ Kitsch (2023). In 2025, he received the BIPOC Emerging Writer award from Blue Earth Review. Lester’s debut poetry collection, Angel and Night’s Youngest, is forthcoming with the Black Spring Press Group (UK).
