The essays in What We Hunger For weave together personal memories, recipes, reflections on colonialism, and the ways that food connects, heals, and resists. Shin’s own background, a Korean adoptee in a white family, raised in Chicago and Minnesota, informs her introduction, which reflects on her mother’s cooking, family history, and the cultural blending she experienced. Although the author talk is free, pre-registration is requested since space is limited. Register on Eventbrite to guarantee your spot.
