Music in the Park - Cruzado
Presented by River Falls Community Arts Base (CAB) at Veterans Park (River Falls) River Falls, WI
Cruzando, a band with Joe Cruz on nylon string and electric guitars, Puerto Rican cuatro, and Cuban tres, takes listeners on a Latin Music adventure. With singer Estibaliz Anabella and a rhythm section including bass, drum set, and congas, Cruzando pays tribute to classic Cuban Son and boleros from the Buena Vista Social Club, including hits like Chann Chann, El Cuarto de Tula, and Dos Gardenias. Their musical journey continues to Puerto Rico, where they perform En Viejo San Juan featuring the Puerto Rican cuatro. Cruzando also covers artists like Celia Cruz, Gloria Estefan, Polo Montañez, and even Santana, showcasing a wide range of musical styles.

"Unique Visions: Earth, Fiber, Pigment" - Artist Reception

Join us for the Artist Reception of "Unique Visions: Earth, Fiber, Pigment" on Friday, August 7th from 5-8pm! Earth, Fiber and Pigment become the foundation for three distinct artistic visions, featuring the work of Lisa Buck, Morgan Clifford, and Anne Landreman. Through thoughtful composition, luminous color and richly layered surfaces, each artist reveals the expressive potential of their chosen medium inviting viewers to experience the familiar in unexpected ways. Exhibit runs July 24 - September 11, 2026. All proceeds from sales, net of expenses, are donated for the benefit of general programming at The Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson, WI. Book Binding and Art Journal Workshop

Come and learn how to bind a tiny book using the kettle stitch, a simple yet effective method that has played a vital role in the history of bookbinding. Bookbinding is the process of physically assembling pages of a book into a finished product. It involves folding, sewing, gluing, and covering the pages to create a durable and aesthetically-pleasing book. We will bind our little book, cover it, and create a tiny visual journal along with a decorated Altoid tin to store your book in. Monique Vernon has been a paper art instructor since 2019, teaching classes at Community Thread in Stillwater and making cards for 15 years. The registration link will be posted in June 2026. Embroider a Wrist Cuff Workshop

This three-hour class with Natalie Norman is focused on making an embroidered wrist cuff. (A wrist cuff is used to warm your hands or as an accent piece worn as a bracelet.) Come with an idea of design choice or begin with one of the patterns that Natalie will have available. We will offer 5-6 basic embroidery stitches enhanced with ideas of combining varied stitches. Suggested Age: 15 years old to adult. The class fee includes a $15 materials fee. Natalie Norman has been part of the cultural needlework community for over 20 years, participating as a vendor, demonstrator, and teacher at venues such as Gammelgården Museum, American Swedish Institute, and Marine Mills Folk School. Sponsored by the Swedish Embassy in Washington, DC, her embroidered work was featured in a traveling exhibition that visited five major American cities and concluded with a 15-month tour in Stockholm, Sweden. In 2019, Natalie received a fellowship from the American Scandinavian Foundation to study a traditional form of folk art. Courses in fritt broderi at Sätergläntan in Dalarna and påsöm at the Mora Folk School have since deepened her embroidery practice and strengthened her desire to share this passion with others. Fly Fishing 101

Have you ever wanted to learn how to fly fish but don’t have gear? Are you beginning your fly fishing journey but can’t quite nail a perfect cast? Let Wild Rivers Conservancy and the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway reveal the mysteries of fly fishing to you! By the end of this dry land course, you’ll have all the knowledge you’ll need to catch your first fish on the fly! Thanks to a grant from the National Park Foundation, we will provide all the necessary equipment and teach you the basics such as knot tying, fly casting, wading safety, fish species identification, regulations & ethics. All you need to bring is a positive attitude, weather-appropriate clothing and water bottle! This course is recommended for 13 years old and older. Meet your instructor: October Yates is an avid outdoorsman throughout the midwest. He has been kayaking and fishing since his youth, and adventured up and down the coast from Washington to Alaska. He now resides in the St. Croix valley and has years of experience guiding people throughout his favorite places along the Riverway.

Music in the Park - Mark Cameron Blues Band

Minnesota-based singer, songwriter and guitarist Mark Cameron has been active in live music for over thirty years. Mark began his performing career in the rich folk-rock scene of the early 1970s and brought this influence into several bands he founded during the 1980s and 1990s. Today his focus is centered on crafting original Blues songs with strong melodies and memorable lyrics. The range of Mark’s material stretches the Blues beyond safe limits with a focus on “foot stompin', butt shakin'” music that is built for a live audience. Known as a charismatic front man and soulful guitarist, Mark engages his audience directly in live performances and delivers his original compositions with a mix of sincerity, honesty and often a touch of humor. He is equally at home on acoustic or electrified instruments and retains writer/arranger credits on all of his recorded projects. Marks vocal range stretches from basement baritone to full-on growl, and his original lyrics draw the listener in and paint a picture of the many worlds within the blues.

With music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl" and "Part of Your World." Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea.
