In the Gallery: Jackson Duin
Presented by Stillwater Public Library at Stillwater Public Library Stillwater, MN
Another Shade of Winter is the January and February gallery exhibit by Minnesota-based abstract painter Jackson Duin, on view at the library in January and February. Known for his richly textural style and emotionally driven approach to abstraction, Duin creates work that invites viewers to experience winter not as a landscape, but as a feeling—layered, reflective, and personal. Despite his young age, Duin has already developed a significant body of work and made history as the youngest artist to curate an exhibition at ArtReach St. Croix. As Duin explains, “I began making art when I was very young and my natural inclination has always been to paint how things feel rather than how they look.” His paintings aim to translate internal emotion into color, texture, and movement, encouraging viewers to connect with the same sensations he experiences while creating. Meet the artist at a public reception on Thursday, January 15, at 6:30 PM, in the Stillwater Public Library gallery. Gallery exhibits are viewable during library hours.

Unforgotten Washington County Stories from the Korean War
Presented by Washington County Parks at Washington County Historic Courthouse Stillwater, MN
The Korean War (1950–1953) is often called the “Forgotten War,” overshadowed by World War II that ended just five years earlier. But in Washington County, it is anything but forgotten. Eleven local men were killed in action during the war, and their stories continue to live on in the memories of families, friends, and the community they left behind. Their service, sacrifice, and experiences form a powerful chapter in our shared history. Visit the Washington County Historic Courthouse to explore an exhibit that brings these stories to life.
