You'll create custom tote bags with flour paste resist, explore the Japanese art of Shibori, and capture nature's beauty using locally foraged botanical dye and indigo to create one-of-a-kind shirts and tea towels. Earth Day Trash Dash 2026

Join Sustainable Stillwater MN for a one-hour Trash Dash at Lowell Park. Volunteers will work together to remove litter from the park and surrounding areas, helping protect local wildlife, prevent pollution from reaching the St. Croix River, and keep our community spaces clean and welcoming. The event begins with a short welcome and safety overview, followed by about 30-45 minutes of cleanup. All equipment—including gloves, safety vests, and litter pickup tools—will be provided. Trash Dashes are family-friendly, accessible, and open to volunteers of all ages. Come spend an hour caring for the land and celebrating Earth Day with your community.

St. Croix Sounds Wind Orchestra and Stillwater High School Wind Ensemble

Amazing artists bring their talents to the Stillwater region to share during their world tour. Kris Tjornehoj is the director of St. Croix Sounds Music Society. Her wind orchestra will feature guest conductor Oscar Navarro in a variety of music for all ages to enjoy. Tark Katzenmeyer, Stillwater High School, will bring his musicians to learn and grow throughout the week, culminating in a performance at this event. Guest artist Pilar Rubio is a famous model, violinist, TV host and versatile performer. Oscar Navarro is a personality filled, shining composer with many international award and film accolades. Join us at the Sally Mazara Interpretive Nature Center on Saturday, April 25th, anytime between 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for a Nature Center/Bell Museum MASH-UP! Bell Museum volunteers will be on site to assist visitors with nature-based, science activities. From “Garden & Greens” to “All About Astronomy” there’s plenty to explore and learn in each mini-program. This event is free, though freewill donations are greatly appreciated. Here is a little info about what you can expect from each station at the event: Bell Museum Basics Engineer a Bird Beak – Design your own bird’s beak and explore how different shapes have evolved to eat different foods. Mini BioBlitz – Practice evaluating the biodiversity of an area and then put it into action with the City Nature Challenge by iNaturalist City Nature Challenge – Participate in an a live bioblitz of Sunfish Lake Park through iNaturalist. People from the Minnesota master naturalist program will direct participants on what to do. Bootleggers and Big Bands: A Speakeasy Fundraiser + Online Silent Auction

Welcome to the Scandia Speakeasy, where you’ll experience an evening of history, intrigue, and swing! The night begins with legendary true-crime historian Paul Maccabee, author of John Dillinger Slept Here, who will share riveting stories from the mob era in St. Paul—including surprising connections to Scandia. From Dillinger’s secret hideout on Big Marine Lake to the larger-than-life characters of the Prohibition era, Maccabee brings Minnesota’s colorful past vividly to life. After true crime tales, enjoy spirited Big Band music and dance with Riverside Swing. Experienced dancers will be on hand to teach classic swing moves—or just relax at your seat and enjoy hot horns and vintage vocals. Guests are encouraged to dress in their finest Roaring '20s and '30s attire—think pinstripes, fringe, fedoras, and flapper flair—for a night inspired by the glamour of the Great Gatsby era. Spoon Carving Workshop

We cover tree anatomy, axing out a blank (roughed out spoon shape), knife holds for the hook & sloyd knife, drying, and finishing. This class is great for the beginner or the person wanting to learn Sloyd style carving. The class fee includes tool rental, materials, and a finishing kit. Please wear pants and close toed-shoes, as we are going to make some wood chips! Participants must be 12 years of age or older. All Franconia workshops are ticketed on a sliding scale in order to provide accessible arts programming to our community. We encourage you to pay according to your available resources. Thank you!
