City of River Falls, WI – Call for Artists, Riverwalk Pathway Railroad Abutment
Proposals are being accepted from emerging artists or teams of artists who would like to be considered for a 2D mural installation on the second railroad abutment (cement structure) located off the Riverwalk Pathway near Heritage Park, in Downtown River Falls. As part of the proposal, the artist(s) will include information on the design, and installation of the artwork, including anti-vandalism/protective coating. The artist(s) should visit the proposed installation site prior to submitting a proposal. Additional Information. Deadline: April 1

ArtReach St. Croix – Call for Exhibiting Artists
ArtReach St. Croix is seeking submissions from artists interested in exhibiting their work in ArtReach’s Royal Credit Union Foundation Gallery. All forms of creative work will be considered. All two- and three- dimensional media, subject matters and styles are welcome including—but not limited to—painting, textile, printmaking, mixed media, photography, ceramics, sculpture, glass, jewelry, and book arts. The exhibitions typically feature 3-5 artists. Accepted submissions to this call will fill 6 week long exhibitions between May 2025 and February 2026. Artists living and/or working in the Lower St. Croix Valley in Minnesota and Wisconsin are especially encouraged to submit applications. Additional Information. JOTFORM for online application. City of River Falls, WI – Call for Artists, Police Department Public Art
An artist is sought to design, fabricate and install an artwork in proximity to the River Falls Police Department building, preferably on the east side next to the new walking/biking trail. Artist is responsible for all associated expenses related to design and installation of the artwork, including an appropriate concrete pad. Please include an itemized project budget in your proposal. The awarded project will need not exceed $36,000 and the preference for installation is prior to September 30, 2024, if feasible. Additional Information. Deadline: April 26

The Jerome Foundation – Jerome Hill Artist Fellowships
Jerome Hill Artist Fellowships support early career Minnesota- and New York City-based generative artists who take creative risks in exploring, expanding, imagining, or re-imagining creative practices and experiences; reclaiming or reviving traditional forms in original ways; and/or questioning, challenging, or disrupting cultural norms. Jerome Foundation seeks to support artists who are creating, developing, and presenting imaginative work that is deeply considered, presented with technical skill, is compelling, and offers a distinctive vision and authentic voice. This three-year Fellowship supports artists who embrace their roles as part of a larger community of artists and citizens, and consciously work with a sense of service and responsibility. Support is directed to early career artists, which Jerome Foundation defines as within their 2nd–10th year as a generative artist. Additional information Deadline: April 15 at 4pm

Large-scale Sculpture to Promote Waste Reduction, Reuse, and Recycling
Washington County Public Health & Environment invites artists to submit proposals for consideration in the design and creation of a permanent art installation for the North Environmental Center currently under construction. The sculpture will educate the public about the importance of waste diversion (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). The artwork must be composed primarily of repurposed or recycled materials to illustrate the message of reduce, reuse/repurpose, and recycle rather than throwing materials into the trash. The selected artist(s) will be commissioned to create and install an original art installation and will receive a stipend of up to $8000 pending project approval. The Phipps Center for the Arts – Figure Drawing Co-op
The Phipps Figure Drawing Co-op provides visual artists the opportunity to work independently and achieve self-improvement in a safe environment on a relaxing Sunday afternoon. Enjoy life drawing with fellow artists from the St. Croix River Valley and across the Twin Cities. We employ professional drawing models. Sessions facilitated by a Phipps Visual Arts Council member. Power of the St. Croix Utility Box Mural Project – Call for Proposals
Artists interested in participating in the Power of the St. Croix Utility Box Mural Project at one of three site in Marine on St. Croix are asked to submit their proposed idea. The theme of this project revolves around the River, as it is the River that connects all of our towns and villages. As such, submissions should be themed around the River. It could be the natural beauty of the river or the history of the river, it can be realist or abstract, it can be photography or a painting. Additional information

Artist Calls Beyond the Valley

AZ Gallery – Collective ALCHEMY
The curatorial essence of AZ Gallery’s 2024 exhibition schedule is one of Collective ALCHEMY. When most people think of ALCHEMY, they think of the legendary quest to create gold or the ultimate “healing elixir”. But taken metaphorically, the processes of alchemy can be applied to basically anything that nudges you along on your own personal journey. As a small, women owned, nonprofit gallery we provide unrestricted access to community exhibition space designed to showcase and artist’s best work; free of submission fees, content regulations, themes, size or material restrictions. All artists, doing whatever it is they do, are encouraged to apply. Additional information Deadlines: Cycle II – February 28, 2024; Cycle III – April 30, 2024; Cycle IV – August 30, 2024

Homespun Events – Minnehaha Falls Art Fair
Minnehaha Falls Park, one of Minneapolis’ oldest and most popular parks, features a majestic 53-foot waterfall, limestone bluffs, and river overlooks, attracting more than 850,000 visitors annually. Minnehaha Falls Art Fair was voted by artists in the Sunshine Artist Magazine as the 49th Best Art Fair in the United States and 2nd Best Art Fair in Minnesota! The 3-day event (July 19-21) will feature between 100-150 artist booths, along with music, crafts, food, and more. One key marketing strategy for the Minnehaha Falls Art Fair is “Items Under $30 At Every Booth!” This will be required of every artist. Additional information Deadline: April 1

Ongoing Opportunities

ArtReach St. Croix – The Gift Gallery
In 2019, ArtReach St. Croix opened The Gift Gallery in a space adjacent to our exhibition galleries. An outgrowth of our successful Holiday Gift Gallery program, The Gift Gallery features work by St. Croix Valley artists in a cash and carry setting. Participating artists rotate through the shop 2-3 times per year and a selection of the available work is also featured on ArtReach’s online gift gallery shop. River Falls Community Arts Base – Exhibit at Art’s House Gallery
If you or you and your group are interested in exhibiting at Art’s House Gallery, please fill out an application. Submissions will be assessed by members of the Community Arts Base board which is comprised of artists, arts professionals and art enthusiasts from the River Falls area. All submitting artists will be notified by email of the board’s decision a minimum of 6 weeks prior to the exhibition installation date. In particular, we’re looking for glass, pottery, wood, small sculptures and jewelry to exhibit and sell. Additional information

Stillwater Veterans Memorial – Call for Volunteers
The Stillwater Veterans Memorial is looking for volunteers with fine motor skills and an attention to detail in repainting pavers. A training session would be provided along with all necessary artist supplies, paints, sitting and kneeling pads, etc. This is work that can be done at the volunteer’s convenience. The volunteers will be publicly recognized for their contribution to the honoring of veterans at the Memorial. Prospective volunteers can call John Kraemer at 651-439-4350.

In addition to providing artists and organizations with a web page containing images and information, mnartists.org provides news and features about the local arts scene from a variety of sources. They have many calls for artists from throughout Minnesota posted on their Opportunities page.
